The Suffolk County Trap and Skeet Range
was reopened illegally and currently operates in violation of many laws.

Welcome to our world! A world of noise, pollution, arrogance and political deals!  This website has been established to bring you factual and up-to-date information regarding the issues surrounding the reopening and existence of the Suffolk Trap and Skeet Range.

We present documented facts.

We do not present hearsay, rhetoric, half-truths, fairy-tales or wishful thinking.
We do not publish something "we heard" or what someone claims to have been told.  Everything we publish here as well as any opinions we offer can be traced to factual information for which we have documentation and certification and is thus based upon truth.
What follows here are the REAL facts...

THE POLITICS OF STUPID

Suffolk County was well aware that the area surrounding the Suffolk County Trap and Skeet range was zoned as residential and their initial plan to relocate the range way back in the early 90's belies the fact that they knew there were going to be problems.  After the range's official closure in 2001, the opportunity to relocate the range was presented again and as if to demonstrate the literal definition of insanity, glazed-eyed politicians and Special Interest zealots chose instead to force the range back into what had by then become a sprawling bedroom community.

Given the many problems that existed prior to the range's closure, when there were relatively few homes in the area,
only a complete idiot could not foresee even greater conflict since the residential presence had grown dramatically during the almost five years the range was closed.

Enter the idiots...
Rather than accept the realities of the situation, these individuals embarked upon a mission to misrepresent the facts, skate around the law and bamboozle the decision makers into believing that the plan to reopen the range was sound.
The result of course is what we have today:  A facility embroiled in costly litigation, a community that has been devalued to the point of irrelevance and an ever growing environmental threat to Suffolk's largest and oldest public park as well as to the last
nearly pristine river left on Long Island; the Carmans.

Duplicitous frauds in government and the others who forced this dog and pony show back
into existence tried to cover up their unutterably flawed and false policies and manipulated the law and the truth while lashing out at residents, environmentalists and others who tried to be the voices of reason and who tried to point out the realities.   The disingenuous misrepresentation and outright lies leading to the reopening of the range were astounding and despite the presence of dozens of "Red Flags" and despite a plethora of legitimate reasons not to move ahead, passionate overture and Special Interest pressure superseded the law, common sense and fair play.

The real shame is that no one in charge had the backbone or the integrity
to confront any of this.

Don't Believe it?
That's OK.

Most people have been told so many lies about the range that it's hard to know what's real
and what isn't.  That's why this site exists; to set the record straight and to tell the real story.

We hope you'll take some time to browse through the site and see for yourself.
Unlike the people who fall on their swords to protect some mythological vision they have in their minds of the range,
we don't have anything to hide (or to lie about).

We just present  facts and let you decide for yourself.
