Connie Kepert
Connie
is our 4th District Councilwoman to
Brookhaven Town.
She has been a staunch supporter of South Yaphank and
was instrumental in working with the town’s law
department regarding its enforcement of Brookhaven Town
noise laws. She arranged for an independent noise
consultant to take readings throughout the surrounding
community on several occasions to establish baseline
readings and constants for the noise emanating from the
range. She helped to coordinate the town’s Code
Enforcement bureau and aided them in updating and
re-calibrating their own equipment so that they could
take accurate sound level readings as well.
Recently Connie, along with Councilwoman Jane Bonner,
co-sponsored Resolution 439-08 directing the Brookhaven
Town representative to the Central Pine Barrens Joint
Planning and Policy Commission to make a motion to that
commission that it take jurisdiction of the land on
which the shooting range exists and conduct an
environmental review of the use of that land and to also
determine whether the reopening of the range constituted
a violation of ECL Article 57 as “development” under its
guidelines.
